I am in medical school in Poland. This blog is to keep those close to me updated on my journey.

Spring Break
We have almost 2 weeks off. It will be spent relaxing, studying, and hopefully traveling a bit through Poland. The Anaheim Ducks need to lock it up. Here are some random photos from the last few days. TGIFridays on Thursday and an AWESOME bbq on Friday.
We went to TGIFriday's on Thursday. Delicious American food, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Our friend brought her car there and we stuffed 6 in her 2-door VW. Valerie got the trunk.
Safely in
Christer filleting some fish. There is something about watching a Norwegian filet a fish.
The BBQ spread. Veggies, burgers, chicken wings, 4 different kinds of sausages, fish, salad, bread, and beer.
Shot roulette anyone?
There are these wild lighters at the local grocery store. This one says, "stop or I'll shoot" the cop pointing his gun downwards to his... you know what.
Another picture of the feast.
Bipin, who is our class representative and who is from Jamaica, holding my Faxe beer, a 1 Liter German beer. YUM

Spring
It's spring and the weather is proof. It is hard to think that it was so cold and snowy. People are coming out of hibernation, restaurants are opening up the patios, and moods are better.
I want to get one of the remaining 3 to make one sunny side up style.
Housewarming aka single room gift from Valerie. Still cracks me up. She actually stole it from the movie theater that is downtown. It's about 2.5 feet tall and I just wonder what people were thinking when they saw her carry this during the ~30 minute trip back to the dorms
2 weeks ago
last week. flowers by the tree for the 1 year anniversary of the plane crash that killed the president
interesting
Walking down to the rynek
Easter festival. They have great food!
Building the patios for the restaurants. Soon every place will have their patios up and ready.
Crowd gathering for 12noon
At noon a person comes out and plays a trumpet and the rams butt heads (directly above the clock). First time I have seen it.
Sushi, 50zl all you can eat. The sushi comes around on the boats and you can also order from the menu in the foreground. It goes from 12-5 everyday. Delicious.
The Dragon Bar. iPhone photo, sorry. It was in this castle with numerous levels, both indoor and outdoor, one of the cooler spots around.
El ProfessOR doing his best typical Pole impression. Notice the cigarette, vodka bottle, and of course the face...
The oldest hospital in Poznan. Goes back to around 1500 if I recall correctly.
Rows of Easter bunnies in the mall. Looks like an Bunny Army and their leader is that creepy statue of the girl with the huge head. All over Poznan there are tons of bunnies the size of humans and all different colors, quite funny.
Ostrich egg. They had 4 at the local grocery store, each 100zl. Valerie thought it was the funniest thing and needed to get it.
Opening. We watched a few ways to do it via youtube. We decided, after making a small hole in it, to just hit it with a hammer and some of the egg launched out of the hole and hit me in both the lip and shirt.
one huge egg
cant forget the Lamb butter
They made omelets for all 4 of us with a bunch left over. Valerie made a TON of cookies, more leftover egg, and said she never wants to see an egg again.
I want to get one of the remaining 3 to make one sunny side up style.

Weather
My computer says its 70 degrees F in Poznan today. Whoa!
Not much to report.. week of classes, studying, the usual. Polish test next week, so this weekend will have to prepare for that a bit.
Did laundry today, got the dryer too! So when I got the dryer, I put in my jeans, one of the few washes this year, so when they were done washing, my other clothes were finished drying and I was able to put in the jeans. Clean clothes!

April
It is now April. I have been here 7 full months, crazy. Time really has flown. This last week has been pretty relaxing, I got a lot of work done. I am caught up with anatomy and read ahead in histology. I did my last biophysics presentation this morning and I have enough to take the final, maybe I'll get more so I can get extra points on the final. Baseball season has started, time for the Angels to do some damage. The Ducks have been pulling off crazy victories to keep in the playoff hunt. The west conference is so tight no teams can afford to lose. The Lakers have been picking it up. They had a little bump midseason but they have seemed to turn it around. Last game 3 Lakers got ejected. They played the Mavericks, which could very well be a second round matchup in the post season and Jason Terry cheap shotted Steve Blake and people got ejected for their physical reactions, LOVE IT.
Dennis moved out. :) He asked those in charge if he could be ensured to have a single room when I moved out at the end of the year and they said they couldn't guarantee that since the freshman will be housed first in August and the other students come back a month after. If he got a single room now he would be able to have that next year so he said sure and moved right next door. I cleaned the place all last night and got everything arranged; stayed up pretty late which is why I am here at 10 on Friday too tired to do anything. I rearranged the beds so I have a L shaped bed+couch type of deal and it is quite nice.
After biophysics a group of us met up and went to the range. No not the driving range, a shooting range. We had gone the week prior but unfortunately there was a tournament and we could not shoot so we got reservations for today! Boy was it a great time. Following this we had dinner at TGIFridays then departed out own ways as we were all pretty spent.
it might have gotten messed up again but when I watched the video I had to click below the first of the numbers of the duration. Just move the cursor below the video screen until the finger appears

Bard and our favorite bartender at shot bar. Bard will be visiting California this September
Me and Michal
Czekolada last weekend
The new room. Slid the beds like an L, I sleep on the one under the window and put another chair and shelf not visible on the foot of the bed with the blue sheets
The sign for the gun range, just a glock, nice
The store/office
The gun menu, automatic machine guns on top and sniper rifles on the bottom
Michal is happy!
Fil and his glock
MP-5 semi-auto/auto
Mikloj shooting, he actually shot off the clip holding the target up which is why his target is dangling, I don't think he was aiming there...
my favorite gun, the Magnum. It feels great in your hands, good balance. We used to go shooting when camping (maybe mom didn't know this..) with the Ayer's and I learned how to shoot and handle guns properly but it has been quite a while since then
great shot
the group of marksmen
I believe I was the most accurate with the handguns. A few strays with the automatic MP-5, but that is to be expected. Fil was most accurate with the sniper rifle, with both shots near center.
Which should I shoot at? Everyone downrange
Shotgun and Russian sniper
Putting the target back up. I thought this was quite funny, shotgun in the foreground and person downrange putting the target back up. Of course the shotgun was unloaded. The supervisor was very helpful and safe.
The semiautomatic Russian Dragunov sniper rifle
